This is a fun song on “what you should be”, based on where you are. That, if you are a cowboy man or a cowboy woman in a cowboy land, well, that’s what you are. It would be silly for ‘us’ to ask you to be something else. A bird is a bird. A fish is a fish. Yet, somehow there is a ‘molding’ pressure to be fashionably consistent with a ‘good’ ideology.
And… sometimes this attempted fashioning is confusing: both for you and for me. It doesn’t feel centered. Or nice.
I like the centering words of “Aren’t you glad that God above.. had the plan. To make the cowgirl woman and the cowboy man”. Yup. So with a swanky beat, and words that are fun, we have ‘Cowboy Man’. Orchestration of the song? I love interesting combinations. To work with the familiar and lean into it a bit of the odd. Sounds that tingle. Enjoy…or question…both are Ok.
