ABOUT

This song is one that marks a defining moment in my life. The decision to try. The decision to be. I had this dream of writing music all my life, as do all of you specific to your own dreams, to do what it is that you wish to do. For me, I studied, I practiced, I wrote….but then I put it on hold to raise a family. A wonderful decision. I love my wife. I love my children. All good, but the dream was still there. In my doorway, asking to be let in. The tingling of unfinished business… and the warning to not hide something given.

When asked to ‘do’, you must respond. But to do so at a more developed age? 😊….Heck yeh, I said. Let’s go. So I moved everything quickly. Decided. Still, our minds/heads are sometimes unfaithful fans. Our past questions us: “Chitter chat, you’re looking back at the history chasing you…”. So I made it my choice to not listen to this pesty voice with a declaratory cry of “no more, no more”. The song celebrates all of us lifting the anchor, welcoming the waves, and asking Life to blow the wind, and move our ships. Wonderful feeling.

Move My Ship
Lyrics by Michael Pos

Verse 1

Years can pass through thoughts sometimes of all the things we’ve done,

Sometimes yeah you wonder where the years they ran too long.

Chitter chat, you’re looking back at the history chasing you,

Saying why’d you do this, why’d you do that, reading you the news.

Time to make my get away, time to trim the sails,

Time to lift that anchor up and dive into the gale.

Chorus

Blow wind, move my ship, move my ship along.

Blow wind move my ship, make the bow all bend and yawn

Blow wind, move my ship, move my ship along.

Blow wind move my ship, make the breaking waves all run

Verse 2

My feelings they are sticking to the meaning of my name,

With such beliefs the feeling’s freaky, refuse to go away.

Chitter chat, you’re looking back at the history chasing you

Saying why’d you do this and why’d you do that, reading you the news

Time to make my get away, time to trim the sails

Time to lift that anchor up and dive into the gale

Chorus...

Verse 3

Ive looked out throught the window, to years that have passed through
The help I've had the friends I've made to help me learn to choose
But still my feelings call on me, they keep me on the shore
But now I say it loud and clear, no more, no more, no more

Chorus...
