ABOUT THE SONG

This song is a dichotic intersection between the realization of one’s fallen nature and the reality written on the page that God loves us.

The song resulted from a time when I was very much ‘cutting to myself in aguish and in fear’. I was in a self-involved, worried space, thinking/overthinking about this or that, driving my heart into a never good dark space of self-pity, when a wave of truth hit me: that no matter if I succeed or do not succeed ‘You Love Me’.

The wake up effect was immediate. Its clarity drenched me. I lurched over and cried like a baby. Not from sadness, but from relief. It was a granted, given time, showing me this truth is the only thing that matters. The song is both a confession and a cry of thanks for the gifting of this understanding. One to be held on to and not forgotten.

LYRICS

You Love Me
by: Michael Pos

Though I often think so cruel,
And hurt with judgements made.
Though I often refuse to see,
The colors till they fade.
Though empty as I am some days,
In loving others well.
I still can see what these words say,
And what these words do tell.

You love me. You love me. You love me. You love me.

Though cutting I am to myself,
In anguish and in fear.
Though sickle man he calls to me,
To cut my soul with tears.
Though I can’t see the blessings plain,
Nor see the light of day.
The words are written on the page,
And this is what they say.

You love me. You love me. You love me. You love me.
You love me. You love me. You love me. You love me.

But still the price was never cheap, to show these words are true.
It dips within the darkest place within the things you’d do.
Oh yes, the meaning of them words, they shine the brightest light.
Piercing from the darkest place, Your love it gives me life.
Your love it gives me life. Your love it gives me life.

You love me. You love me. You love me. You love me.
You love me. You love me. You love me. You love me.
